Abstract

548,312. Joining veneers edge to edge. PROJECTILE & ENGINEERING CO., Ltd., CLARK, F. G., and MORFORD, K. E. April 3, 1941, No. 4484. [Class 145 (ii)] Two veneers are joined edge to edge by placing the previously glued wood sheets on either side of a guideblade D<SP>1</SP> on a guide-bed D whence they are passed by feed rollers 4 past a rotating disc E positioned in a recess in the blade D<SP>1</SP> and rotating in a removable bath F containing formaldehyde solution or some other setting medium; thereafter the veneers are brought together and pass along an electricallyheated conveyer B and beneath pressing rollers C which contact the work through gaps in a plate K carried on the surface of a heating chamber C<SP>1</SP>. Bed plate D may be disengaged by moving it in the machine bed to the right to disengage shouldered stud A<SP>1</SP> ad pin A<SP>2</SP>.
