Abstract

501,457. Dart-boards. BURDEN, A. F. Sept. 4, 1937, No. 24181. [Class 132 (iii)] A dart-board has the'playing surface formed of an assembly of strips of suitable dartpierceable material secured together in straight and parallel relationship. Strips or bars 2 of compressed fibrous material are secured together with the fibres running perpendicular to the playing surface. If strips of a flexible nature be used, the joins may be slightly waved. The playing surface is backed by a sheet of wood 3, or a sheet of wood may be interposed between two such playing surfaces. The scoring areas are defined by wires held on the surface by staples 4 which are driven through the playing surface into the backing sheet. A binding strip 5 may be applied to the periphery of the assembly. The board may be rectangular in which case the playing surface is defined by a circular line and the portions of the board surrounding this line may be covered by suitable panelling.
