Abstract
548,251. Lenses. KODAK, Ltd. (Eastman Kodak Co.). March 27, 1941, No. 4153. [Class 97 (i)] In a photographic objective having focal length F and consisting of two outer positive components and two inner meniscus components highly concave towards a diaphragm between them, the third component comprises a doublet consisting of a front negative element IV, having a refractive index greater than 1.6 cemented to a positive element V having a refractive index at least .04 greater than that of the positive element, the axial thickness of the doublet being less than .15 F, and the cemented surface having a radius R, between -0.5 F and -5 F. The refractive index of the element IV may be greater than 1.65 and the refractive index of the front component I may be between 1.55 and 1.59. The rear component, also, may consist of a doublet comprising a front negative element VI having a refractive index greater than 1.6 cemented to a positive element VII having a refractive index at least .04 greater than that of the element VI, the radius R 10 of the cemented surface being between .4 F and 4 F ; the refractive index of the element VI is preferably greater than 1.65. The radius R 9 of the front surface of the rear component may vary between infinity and + F, and the radius R 11 of the rear surface may vary between -0.5 F and infinity. Complete data for one example are set out.
