Abstract
550,519. Telephoto objectives. KODAK, Ltd. April 29, 1942, No. 5788. Convention date, July 26, 1941. [Class 97 (i)] A front component consisting of a bi-convex element I cemented to the front of a negative element II is spaced from a rear negative meniscus component III a distance lying between 0.45 times the focal length F, and 0.9 F. The radius of the convex surface of the component III may lie between F/8 and F. The component III may be concave to the front or to the rear, its thickness may lie between 0.02 F and 0.20 F, and it may be simple or compound its concave surface bounding a glass having a refractive index less than 1.55; when it is compound, the radius of the cemented surface may lie between F/4 and F, and the glass behind the cemented surface may have a refractive index at least 0.07 greater than that of the glass in front of the surface, and a dispersive index not more than 15 less. The front surface of the front component may be strongly curved. Complete data for four examples are set out. Specification 536,556 is referred to.
