546,163. Sewing-machines. FAIRWEATHER, W. C. (Singer Manufacturing Co.). May 22, 1941. No. 6566. [Class 112] The vertical shaft of a rotary hook is hollow and contains a stationary tube 49 filled with a wick 55 which takes oil from a reservoir 52 through holes 54 in the tube and lifts it to an annular space 42 in the base of the hook body. Thence, the oil passes by bores 44, 46 to the bobbin-case raceway. The hook-shaft is supported by ball bearings covered by discs 32, 38 carrying felt pads 33, 39. The bearings are carried in a bracket 22 clamped upon a sleeve 24 surrounding the hook driving shaft 26.
