544,705. Explosives. HERCULES POWDER CO. Feb. 13, 1940, No. 2706. Convention date, Dec. 13, 1939. [Class 9 (ii)] A flashless, smokeless, and non-hygroscopic propellant powder is composed of nitrocellulose 76 per cent. to 79 per cent., dinitrotoluene 21 per cent. to 24 per cent., and a nitrocellulose stabilizer 0.8 per cent. to 1.2 per cent. The preferred composition by weight is nitrocellulose 77 parts, dinitrotoluene 23 parts, and diphenylamine 1 part. The nitrocellulose has a nitrogen content of at least 13 per cent. U.S.A. Specification 1,854,776 is referred to.
