An explosive composition comprises an oxidizing salt, water, one or more substances which act as gelling and fuel agents, and nitroglycerine with or without nitroglycol, and contains powdered zirconium silicate, for example; in an amount of 0.5 to 10% by weight, in order to increase the sensitivity and improve the water resistance of the composition. In examples, the ingredients used in addition to those specified above are dinitrotoluene, nitrocotton ammonium nitrate, sodium nitrate, guar flour, carbon, and cellulose.
