Abstract
540,137. Rubber springs. GUY, F. M., and GUY & MURTON, Inc. April 4, 1940, No. 6108. [Class 108 (iii)] [Also in Group XXV] A resilient pivotal joint comprises a sleeve 19 and a pin 16 with a rubber &c. bush 20 compressed between them by a tapered sleeve 21 forced axially of the bush by a nut 24 on the threaded end of the pin 16 so as to set up compression in the bush from the middle outwards towards the ends. A tapered part 16a of the pin co-acts with the sleeve 21. The sleeve is keyed at 23 to the pin to prevent relative rotation. In another form, the pin is of uniform diameter, and two tapered sleeves compress the rubber. The surfaces of the sleeves engaging the rubber may be stepped. In another form, a washer between the nut and the end of the rubber bush effects the compression.
