Abstract

743,611. Resilient joints. METALASTIK, Ltd. Nov. 3, 1954 [Sept. 25, 1953], No. 26407/53. Class 108 (3). In a resilient bush comprising an inner metal sleeve 18 bonded to a rubber sleeve 19 which is externally tapered, the sleeve 18 is split longitudinally into at least two parts. Thus when the bush is forced into a tapered annular bore (not shown) between a housing and a central bolt or pin, subsequent removal of the bush is facilitated. Recesses 20 are provided in the rubber adjacent the split portions 21 of the sleeve 18. Recesses are also provided in the rubber at 17. The rubber may also be split either in the same planes as the split portions 20, or in staggered relation thereto. The lines of the splits may be of helical disposition. The flange 14 may be dispensed with. The sleeve 18 may be flanged. Specifications 493,899, 590,765, 622,514 and 651,134 are referred to.
