Abstract

539,220. Rollers for cloth milling and cloth washing machines. GARSIDE, J. T., (trading as GARSIDE & SON, J.). May 3, 1941, No. 5786. [Class 42 (ii)] A roller for a rotary cloth milling or cloth washing machine comprises a hub A to be fixed upon a shaft, a standardized and interchangeable body B, and a tubular covering C of asbestos, cotton, jute or hemp impregnated with synthetic resin or other heat-hardening binder. The covering C when formed and hardened is forced on to the body and finished off by machining or grinding. The hub A is formed with a flange having a surface a<SP>1</SP> concentric with its axis, and the body B is formed with an internal flange b seating upon the surface a'. The covering may be formed from a length of cord passed through a bath of synthetic resin and wound upon a former in a number of superposed coils, the wound coils being hardened by baking, removed from the former and forced on to the body B by hydraulic pressure.
