Abstract
529,140. Dyeing textiles. DURAND & HUGUENIN ART.-GES. May 23, 1939, No. 15293. Convention date, May 23, 1938. [Class 15 (ii)] In dyeing or printing with ester salts of leuco-N-dihydro-1:2:2<SP>1</SP>:1<SP>1</SP>-dianthraquinoneazine dyestuffs (cf Specifications 272,924, [Class 2(iii)], 383,741, 386,245, 394,887 and 416,939) with development by steaming in presence of an oxidizing agent and an ammonium salt dissociated by steam, over-oxidation is avoided by the use of ammonium nitrate as the ammonum salt. In an example, cotton is printed with an aqueous paste containing the sodium salt of the tetrasulphuric acid ester of tetrahydro-1:2:2<SP>1</SP>: 11 - dianthraquinoneazine or its 3:3<SP>1</SP>-dichloro derivative, urea, starch tragacanth thickening, ammonium nitrate, sodium chlorate and ammonia and the printed goods are steamed, washed, soaped and rinsed. Specifications 220,964, 281,336, [both in Class 15 (ii)], and 344,964 also are referred to. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 comprises also a modification of the above example in which the urea is replaced by the sodium salt of dimethylsulphanilic acid. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
