Abstract
527,999. Pipe joints. PATEX SOC. ANON., and KRETDEL, H. April 25, 1939. No. 12430. [Class 99 (i)] In a joint of the kind in which a metallic sealing ring d is forced into the conical mouth of a socket b by a coupling nut c so as to make tight contact with the pipe at two zones f, f<SP>1</SP>, digging into the pipe at the zone f<SP>1</SP> to throw up an annular ridge of metal, the ring has a deformable rearward extension d<SP>1</SP> which projects outside the nut. A strip or sleeve of insulating tape may be wound or fitted on the extension and on the pipe adjacent thereto after the joint has been tightened. Specifications 403,870 and 492,336 are referred to.
