Abstract

527,578. Pipe joints. AEROLEX, Ltd., and HARLEY, F. B. April 15, 1939, No. 11485. [Class 99 (i)] A telescopic connection for tubes of different diameter or for a rod and a tube comprises a coupling member 1 having an end 3 of reduced bore, tapered slit sleeves 5 to fit the pipes 13, 14 and nuts 4 having tapered bores 6 to compress the sleeves which may be integral with the coupling member 1. In a modification a packing ring 24, Fig. 4, is compressed by a sleeve 22 housed within the nut 4 and engaging the split sleeve 5.
