Abstract

516,104. Securing facing-sheets to building framework. GYPROC PRODUCTS, Ltd., and WRIGHT, G. C. Dec. 7, 1938, No. 35737. [Class 20 (iv)] A channel-section clip for use in mounting facing-sheets 13 on the rolled-metal frame members 10 of a budding is adapted to be arranged with its base 15 lying flat against the facing material and the middle parts of the upper edges of its webs 16 lying across a flange 14 of the frame member, and comprises a hooking- portion 17 projecting from one end'of the upper edge of each web and including an extension 18 which is directed towards the other end of the web for engagement behind the said flange 14, and a locking-tongue 20 which projects from the - other end of the upper edge of each web and is bent back through at least a right angle to the web. The clip with the bent-back tongues 20, is positioned behind the flange 14 by a sliding movement from left to right in Fig. 4, the tongues 20 are then bent up through an angle of about 45 degrees; as shown in Figs. 6 and 7, so as to engage behind the web of the member 10. The sheets 13 are adapted to be secured to the clip by screws 23 passing through a washer 24, the sheets 13, and tapped holes 25 in the base 15 of the clip. The height of the webs 16 of the clip is made such that the width of the clip between the flange 14 and base 15 exceeds the diameter of hook-bolts which engage around the flange 14 and secure external facing-sheets to the opposite flange of the frame member 10. The clip, which is stamped from sheet metal, is provided with stiffening flanges 19 on the hooking-portions 17.
