Abstract

1387923 Clamping rod BECKMAN & ULLBIN AB 15 May 1972 [28 May 1971] 22673/72 Heading G5C [Also in Divisions E2 and B6] A clamping rod consists of two rigid flanges 2, 3 defining a gap 4 into which a sheet of material 5 is inserted and held by a V-shaped leaf spring 6 which fits between the flanges 2, 3 so that the end portion 6c of one leg 6b which is bent at 6d, abuts against the junction between the flange 3 and a web 7 which joins the flanges 2, 3, and the end of the other leg 6a abuts against the flange 2. The leg portion 6b which is convexly curved, also abuts against a projection 8 which depends from the web 7, and against the flange 3 near to the line 6e between the legs 6a and 6b. Two sets of flanges depend from one web 7. Material 5 of a wide range of thickness is inserted in the gap 4 and is held against the flange 2 by the spring 6, which may be divided into many small springs spaced along the rod. To suspend the rod, a bracket may be inserted between flange 2 and its associated spring 6, and the bracket is attached to a support. Alternatively, a number of bars, which have grooves into which the edges of the flanges 2 are fitted, are spaced along the rod and attached to a support. For vertical or inclined mounting the end of a rod is fitted in a groove of a fitting, its end engaging a plate at the end of the groove. The fitting is attached to a support by means of screws in the groove or in the plate.
