Abstract
1,080,962. Clamps. GUEST, KEEN & NETTLEFOLDS (AUST.) PTY. Ltd. Jan. 18, 1965 [Jan. 29, 1964; April 13, 1964], No. 2148/65. Heading B4W. [Also in Divisions E1 and E2] A concrete formwork clamp comprises an L-shaped bracket 9 having an arm adapted to seat upon a bearer 12, an eye 10 fixed on said arm able freely to encompass the bearer against which said arm is seated with a floor portion forming part of said eye spaced from the bearer and wedge 13 adapted to be driven between said floor portion and the bearer, the angle between said arm and said floor portion being substantially the same as the taper angle of said wedge. The wedge may be held captive to the eye by a U-shaped shackle 16 welded to the wedge. Nail holes 19 can be provided in the eye so that it can be nailed to the bearer. In a modification the wedge is made of sheet metal bent to V-shape and each of the limbs is furnished with two protuberances which project into the space between the limbs and make contact to act as spacers which support the limbs against collapse. Alternatively only one limb has protuberances which touch the inner surface of the other limb. This form of a wedge is made captive by providing a keeper of U-shape which is welded to the eye and the limbs of which project into the space between the wedge and limbs.
