Abstract
334,957. Martin, I. E. June 14, 1929. Bodies.-A structural bracket is formed from a four-sided piece of sheet metal by bending along a diagonal so that two opposite corners approach, all or some of the edges being flanged and the diagonal edge e of the bracket so formed is of semi-circular cross-section. The corners of the blank may be cut away at a and rounded at b. The edge e is cambered so that the stiffening webs are separated more at the centre than at the ends. The flanges at the edges are of a suitable shape to embrace any section and inturned outer edges of these flanges may be engaged by locking strips h, Fig. 11, or inturned edges on two adjacent brackets may be locked by a locking plate j, Fig. 14. In a modification, flanges, may be hinged to the bracket portion at f<1>, Fig. 7. Three brackets, two at 180‹ and one intermediate, Fig. 16, may be formed integrally from a single piece of sheet metal by bending a blank as shown, Fig. 17. The angle of the bracket may be of any desired size for use in joining parts disposed at any angles.
