Abstract
514,953. Actuating controllers. CO-OPERATIVE WHOLESALE SOCIETY, Ltd., and ALLISON, P. R. May 17, 1938, No. 14620. [Class 38 (iii)] A controller g of an electricallydriven printing-machine is operated from a hand-wheel a through a cable f. The wheel a and a ratchet wheel c are mounted on a spindle, on which is also mounted a disc l coupled .to a shield m for the ratchet wheel c, the shield m and wheel c being adjustable relatively by means of a slot in the disc l and screw l<1>. The disc co-operates with a pointer and is graduated to indicate speed values. Upon operation of the control wheel, the spring o is stressed, and if the wheel is released before it reaches a position in which pawl k can engage with the wheel c the controller returns to its initial position. Beyond this position return movement is prevented by the pawl. This position is adjustable by moving the, shield m in relation to the wheel c. The pawl k is released by a handle k<1>. A cam q operates a switch p co-operating with a start and stop push-button controller whereby the motor can be started only if the controller is in its initial position. In place of a shield for the ratchet wheel some of the teeth of the latter may be removed, the wheel being adjustable in relation to the control wheel.
