Abstract
514,841. Electromagnetic switches. TANNAHILL, J. B., AMES, W.A.B., and LAWLEY, W. E. May 17, 1938, No. 14656. [Class 38 (v)] In a switch in which successive energizations of an electromagnet 4 rotate a shaft 10 step by step by ratchet mechanism, so as to move a contact bridge carried by the shaft alternately " on " and "off," the shaft is positively held in each stationary position by a roller 16 engaging a cam 12 on the shaft, the roller being pressed towards the cam by a weak spring 18 and also positively driven towards the cam by an adjustable stud 28 on the pivoted lever 1 carrying the armature 5 each time the armature is attracted. The lever 1 is pivoted at 10 and biassed by a spring 22 and is connected by a multiplying linkage 24, 21, 26 to a member 20 loosely mounted on the shaft 10 and carrying a pawl 19 which engages the ratchwheel 13 on the shaft.
