[Class 122 (v)] Thin rubber &c. flexible packing discs 2 are deformed by clamping on to stiff members 4 having conical portions 5 spaced from the shaft. Rings 3 of yielding material may be arranged between packing rings and the assembly may be supported in a casing 9. Two sets of packing rings having oppositely inclined edges may be secured in the casing.
