Abstract
507,422. Hinges. FOX & SONS (FITTINGS), Ltd., H., FOX, J. E., and FOX, A. W. Dec. 10, 1937, No. 34206. [Class 65 (ii)] A closet seat is hinged on a base member 10 which is adjustable forwardly and backwardly, being retained on the attaching bolts 17 by slotted plates 15. The plates 15 are held in the base 10 by inwardly extending flanges 14, which allow adjustment in a direction parallel to the hinge axis. The base 10 has lugs 22 to which the seat is attached by pins 23 rotating in bushes 29 in the lug 28 of the seat 27. In an alternative construction the seat is provided with separate spaced lugs which rotate on outwardly extending pivot pins. A seat cover may be pivoted on extensions of the pins 23 or on a second pair of pins carried by the lugs 22. In a modification, Fig. 6, the hinge plates 32 on the cover carry pins 33 which extend through the lugs 22 of the base 10 into the sockets 29 of the seat 27. In a further modification, Fig. 8, the cover 35 and seat 34 are atttached to the base 10 by hinge plates 36, 38 pivoted to a divided lug 40. The invention is not limited to the use of a single base member 10 and separate base members for each fixing bolt may be provided.
