Abstract
504,252. Making curtain - rail brackets. DAVIS, F. L. Aug. 31, 1938, No. 25464. [Class 83 (ii)] [Also in Group XIV] In curtain-rail brackets of the kind provided with a jaw 20 adapted to receive one flange of a rail of I-, L- or inverted-L-section and with a lug 21 carrying a set screw 22 so that the rail can be offered upwardly to the bracket and then clamped in the jaw, the bracket is of L-shape in side view each arm being of channel section throughout its entire length, and one arm having a hole 12 for a fixing screw. The bracket is bent up from the blank shown in Fig. 2, the part 10 and the wings 14 being bent downwardly so that the edges of the wings abut against the face of the part 10 at 15. A further fixing hole 13 is provided in the horizontal portion 11 of the bracket for securing it to a ceiling. The portion 10 and wings 14 may be soldered together. Fig. 4 shows a modification for supporting the overlapping ends of two rails 17, 17a in which a slider 24 with rail-engaging lugs 29 is mounted in the horizontal channel - section arm 11 by a screw 27 engaging a slot 25 in the slider, and the set screw 22 engaging the outer rail 17a forces the slider rearwardly to engage the inner rail 17. thus clamping both rails.
