Abstract
492,691. Strap and chain fastenings ; hooks. LUNDHOLM AKTIEBOLAG, C. H. March 25, 1937, No. 8835. Convention date, Nov. 16, 1936. [Classes 24, 44, and 89 (ii)] Relates to leg-strap fastenings for parachute harness of the kind in which the harness has a central locking device, operation of which also operates the leg-strap fastenings. The fastening comprises a fixed jaw 1 integral with a plate 17 having slots 18 by which the device may be secured to the harness, and a pivoted jaw 2, the two jaws, when closed, providing a loop for engagement by a snaphook, ring, or other member on the free end of the leg strap. Jaw 2 has a projection 5 which enters a recess 21 in jaw 1, and a projection with an aperture 20 into which the rounded or bevelled end 6 of a sliding bolt 7 snaps under the action of a compression spring 8. The bolt is withdrawn by a cable 23 connected with the central locking device and provided with a tubular sheath, not shown, attached to a terminal socket 9 secured by a metal strap 11 attached to plate 17 by screws 13 and having a bent claw 12 engaging a recess 14 in member 1. The cable preferably extends through a bore in, and is secured at the nose end of, the bolt. To give clearance for the connected harness and the cable, the rear portion of plate 17 is cranked or offset from the main plane of the plate, as seen in Fig. 2. A spring 16 throws the jaws open when the bolt is withdrawn.
