Abstract

492,136. Centrifugal pumps. WENDELL, E. J. Dec. 10, 1937, No. 34271. [Class 110 (i)] In a pumping-set wherein the pump 1 is primed. by an ejector 10 connected to the exhaust 8 of an internal-combustion engine 2 which operates the pump 1, a valve 18 between the pump and ejector is automatically opened by the joint effect of the pressure in pipe 14 leading to chamber 15 and the suction in pipe 22 leading to chamber 19. The exhaust pipe 8 is manually closed by an internal or external valve 12. Pipe 14 may be dispensed with and chamber 15 opened to the atmosphere, in which case a larger valve casing 16 is necessary. Pipes 14, 22 may be branched to lead to separate valves for each stage of a multi-stage pump.
