[Class 139] In a chronometer for measuring short periods of time and having a device for giving intermediate signals comprising a sprocket wheel c rotating with the hand, and an escapement lever o co-operating with the sprocket wheel, the parts are so constructed that when the hand is rotated in the direction of unwinding (anticlockwise in the Figure) the escapement lever o is moved with the sprocket wheel c, and when the hand is rotated in the opposite direction the escapement lever moves away from the centre of the sprocket wheel so that the spindle e which carries the escapement lever retains its angular position in relation to a fixed point in the clockwork.
