[Class 139] In an alarm clock having an eight-day time movement 2 and alarm mechanism (10, 18, 16) operating at intervals of twenty-four hours, the mainspring 3 is arranged centrally behind the time movement 2, the setting spindle 7 for the time hands 8 passes through the centre of spring 3, and the winding and setting means 10, 12 for the alarm mechanism is arranged laterally of the time movement. The arm spring 18 is arranged within the frame of the time movement. In the position shown in the Figure the pinion 12 on spindle 10 engages wheel 14 to set the alarm mechanism and the alarm setting hand 16. If spindle 10 be pulled upwards axially, the pinion 12 engages wheel 17 to wind the alarm spring 18.
