Abstract

490,226. Washing - machines. SAUNDERS, N. F. T. Feb. 10, 1937, No. 4006. [Class 138 (ii)] The tub 15 of a rotaryagitator type of washing- machine is provided with a flange 16 which rests upon a rubber or other flexible gasket 20 secured to the top of a rectangular casing 1. The gasket is provided with a bead 21 with which a downturned iron 17 on the tub flange engages. The casing 1 is secured to a bottom frame 6 formed of angle section bar and is provided with an opening 5 in which a door may be fitted. The tub is secured to a diagonal bridge member 14, which spans two pillars secured to the bottom frame, by means of a sleeve 23 engaging a screwed projection 24 formed on a gear box 25 through which the agitator shaft 22 passes. A wringer drive shaft 27 also extends upwardly from the gear box and passes through an aperture 19 in the flange 16.
