[Class 142 (ii)] Two fabrics or plies, looms specially designed for.-In a loom with two shuttles 3, 4, for simultaneously weaving two superposed fabrics there is only one shuttle box 1, 2 at each end of the lay, these boxes being moved, one up and the other down, by opposite arms 18 on the same shaft 9 while the shuttles are passing through the two sheds, so that after the discharge of one shuttle from one box through one shed the said box is positioned ready to receive the oppositely moving shuttle from the other shed. The shaft 9 is oscillated by a cam 17, a rod 11, and an arm 10 on the shaft 9, the pin joint between the rod 11 and the arm 10 being in line at the centre of its motion with the lay pivot 8. On the cam shaft 28 there may be another cam 29 which will move the boxes 1, 2 while the shuttles 3, 4 are in them, and by sliding the cams 17, 29 on the shaft 28 to bring either into operation, each shuttle may be kept in one shed, or the shuttles may change sheds.
