Abstract
723,379. Selvedge forming in shuttleless looms. DEWAS, R. Aug. 5, 1953 [Aug. 6, 1952], No. 19807/52. Class 142 (2). The selvedge warps are prevented from crossing and forming the next shed, until the reed beats-up, by a rod mounted on the slay and which slides into the shed. One arm 14 of a three-armed lever 13 pivoted at 12 is moved when pins 17, 18 engage stops 19, 20 during the backward and forward movement of the slay respectively so that a pin 29 on a second arm 16 moves the rod 31 into the selvedge warps 6. The rod 31 is mounted in bearings 32 on a guide 3 for a weft inserting needle 4. A spring 26 on a rod 23 connected to the third arm 15 holds the lever 13 positively in either its operative or inoperative position. In a modification, the rod 31 enters the shed adjacent the innermost selvedge warp and passes between the upper and lower selvedge warp threads towards the outermost warp thread.
