[Class 141] The invention relates to a mechanical device for drawing stockings or other hosiery goods upon forms during the finishing or sizing operations so as to stretch the fabric and in some instances to pair them for length. The device may form part of a finishing machine operating upon a series of forms in succession. A stocking is mounted on a frame F, Fig. 3, and the end is held by grippers 1a pivoted to a frame 3 slidably mounted between guides 4. The frame 3 is counterweighted at 7 and moved upwards and downwards by a cam 12 on a driving shaft 13. The grippers 1a are connected by arms 14 to a weighted rod 9 pivoted at 10 and engaging the cam 12. In this way the grippers 1a slowly draw the end of the stocking downwards. An adjustable stop 19 is provided under the lever 9. The weight 8 is adjustable to vary the grip. It is necessary to moisten the fabric either before placing it on the form or upon the form itself so as to obtain adhesion or a reduction of elasticity of the fibres. This may be done by direct wetting or by spraying. A set of sprayers 22 may be secured to the frame 3, and be operated by suitable cams on the shaft 13. In a modification, Fig. 5, sprayers 23 are mounted on a slide 26 operated by a cable 27 running on a pulley 28 connected by another cable 31 to a sector 32. The driving shaft 13 operates this sector through arms 34, 33. The stocking is sprayed along the border t, Fig. 6, and upwards from x to y and thence to z. The moistening of the border is effected by sprayers 24, Fig. 7, operated by a counterweighted lever 39 and a cam 40 on the driving shaft 13. The lever 39 is pivoted at 42 with a spring damping device 41. Relative movement between the stocking and sprayer is controlled by engaging arms 43, 44. Preferably a number of forms are mounted upon an endless band and advance by steps before the stretching and spraying devices.
