Abstract

482,299. Connecting and disconnecting arrangements for belt gearing. HOOVER HOLDING CO., Ltd. Sept. 28, 1936, No. 26246. Convention date, March 12. [Class 80 (i)] [Also in Group XXVIII] The agitator of a vacuum cleaner adapted both for floor cleaning and for use with dusting tools is driven by a belt from a pulley 4 on the fan shaft; the belt can be disengaged, when the dusting tool is to be used, by a pair of rollers 16 pivotally carried by arms 15 from a sliding plate 9. The plate 9 moves in guides 10 in a cover plate of the cleaner and the rollers move in cam grooves in this plate. A pinion 11 operated from outside and having on and off indicating means moves the sliding plate 9 through a rack.
