Class 117] A reciprocating screen 12 is mounted on a fixed support 26 by rigid links 19 or springs and is driven by eccentric or like shafts 14. 27 carried by a floating frame 64 which is supported by links 65 from the screen or fixed support and also by links 66 in combination with the spring cushioning device 34 ... 42. The shafts 14, 27 are intergeared and carry balancing weights 32<1>, 32". To provide additional high frequency oscillations for agitating the. material under treatment, a pair of shafts geared to the shafts 14, 27 and rotating at high speed in opposite directions may be provided with small counterweights. The links 66 are then replaced by rods driven by eccentrics of small throw on the additional shafts. Alternatively, a second additional pair of shafts with counterweights may be provided also rotating at a high speed slightly different from that of the first pair.
