Abstract

381,779. Sifting-apparatus. KRUPP GRUSONWERK AKT.-GES., F., Buckau, Magdeburg, Germany. Dec. 14, 1931, No. 34628. Convention date, Dec. 15, 1930. [Class 117.] In systems comprising masses reciprocating or oscillating in substantially opposite phase, such as sieves, 180‹ phase displacement throughout the whole range of speeds is ensured by mounting a crank or equivalent drive on one mass and coupling the connecting-rod to the other through a highly-resilient spring or pendulous mass, in order to avoid excessive amplitude when passing through the natural period of the combined masses and their supporting-springs. A driving-crank 6, mounted on a counterweight frame 3, is connected to a sieve 1 by a rod 7 and weak springs 8, the parts 1, 3 being, as usual, connected by stiff springs 5 and supported by blade springs 2, 4. The crank 6 may alternatively be mounted on the sieve 1, and the counterweight 3 may be a second sieve. The springs 8 may be replaced by a pendulum hung from the sieve 1 and connected at a point in its length to the rod 7.
