Abstract

1,106,513. Screening apparatus. A. WEHNER. 27 Sept., 1965 [26 Sept., 1964], No. 41007/65. Addition to 1,035,711. Heading B2H. [Also in Division B8] The two sets of parallel carrying members I, II of the parent Specification are mounted for relative movement and linked together by screening members 1 which deform as the distance between adjacent carrying members varies. The carrying members are gyrated by an eccentric shaft (W), Fig. 1 (not shown), so that the screening members 1 alternate between the positions shown by full and broken lines 2. In Figs. 6, 7 and 8 (not shown), the carrying members (8), (9) are mounted in frames (3), (5) respectively, the frame (3) carrying an eccentric shaft for gyrating the other frame on 'its spring-supports (6). An unbalancing weight may be added to set the machine oscillating on springs (7). If desired, the machine may be used in an inclined position. In Fig. 9 (not shown), the carrying members (8), (9) lie parallel to the direction of travel of the material being screened. In Fig. 10 (not shown), the frame (5) carrying one set of carrying members is driven through springs (11), (11<SP>1</SP>) from the other frame (3) which is driven by an unbalance drive (12), (12<SP>1</SP>). The screening members may take the form of rigid portions (15), Figs. 12 and 13 (not shown), joined by elastic elements (16). In Fig. 15 (not shown) the screening members are formed by rods (19) which pass through holes, which may be clearance holes, in elastic longitudinal members (17). In Figs. 17 and 18 (not shown), the screening members are arched, hinged by beads (23) and, if desired, supported by members (21). In some embodiments, the screen may take the form of a perforated rubber plate. The screen may be rapped clean by balls (18), (18<SP>1</SP>) Fig. 16 (not shown), suspended below the screen. A cleaning action also occurs in Fig. 19 (not shown) where a cross-member (24) is arranged to strike the bottom of the screening member (22); if desired the cross-member (24) may support a fine screen.
