The sieve may be adjustably mounted in an inclined plane so that its inclination can be altered to suit the nature of the material to be sifted.
In one construction hereinafter more fully described with reference to the appended drawing the sieve cloth or plate is attached to the carrier frame by tensioning screws in such manner that a space is left inthe frame for the passage of material which will not pass through the sieve cloth or plate, and the carrier frame is attached by bolts to a. rigid outer "frame with the interposition of spring means. The outer frame is pivotally mount- 1 ed at one end and rests at the other end on adjustable supports.

As illustrated, the sieve cloth or the sieve plate 1 is attached to the carrier: frame 2 by tensioning screws 3 so as to leave a passage between one end of the frame and the sieve cloth or plate for the material which will not go through the latter.
The carrier frame 2 is movably mounted withinan outer stationary frame 4 by bolts 5 on which are springs 6 between the frame 4 and pressure plates held on the bolts by means of nuts. l
9 is the operating shaft mounted in bearings 10, 10 on the outer frame 4. The part of this shaft between the end journals is eccentric with respect to said journals and is mounted in bearings 11, 11 on the carrier `frame 2 of the sieve cloth or plate 1, so that the frame together with the sieve cloth or plate receives a vibratory motion as the Shaft rotates.
The eccentriq shaft may be driven as shown in the drawing, through the medium of a belt pulley'ffixed thereon outside one of the bearings 10, a loose pulley being fitted alongs1de the driving pulley in .order to interrupt the drive, when required.
In Fig. 3 the sieve is shown mounted in an inclined plane, the upper end'of the frame 4 being turnably supported on a shaft 7 and'its lower end resting on adjustable supports 8, whereby the inclination of the v sieve can be varied to suit requirements. A
funnel or chute 12 is fitted below the sieve clothvor plate and serves to collect and carry away the material that passes through the latter, while the coarser material passes through a channel or chute 13 below the space left between the sieve cloth or plate and one end of the frame 2.
A sieve as herein described can be used for sifting various materials but it will be found particularly suitable for use in sifting or screening ores and minerals.
Having nowparticularly described and ascertained the nature of my said invention and in what manner the same. is to be performed, I declaretha-t which I claim is 1. In a vibrating sieve, a stationary frame,

bearings onsaid frame, a carrier frame, a sieve element within the carrier frame, bearings mounted on the carrier frame midway ,between its ends so as to support the frame nearly in its position of equilibrium. a transverse driving shaft having an 'eccentric portion mounted in the bearlngs'f the carrier frame and its ends mounted in the bearings on the stationary frame, longitufhnal guidrame and the ing bolts mounted between the carrier frame and the stationary frame so as to be capable of a tilting movement in longitudinal planes perpendicularly to the plane of the sieve element, and tensioning elements acting upon said bolts soas to maintain the carrier frame yieldingly in connection with the stationary frame during the vibrations caused by the eccentric shaft portion.
