Abstract
479,833. Bicycle supports. GRAF, E. Oct. 13, 1937, No. 27816. [Class 136 (i)] A stand for bicycles consists of two members 1, 2 pivoted together at 12 and connected together by a tension spring 8, which is accommodated in a channel 7 in the two members the member 2 being provided with an eye 17 adapted to register with an eye 15 on the member 1 when the member 2 is lowered to the operative position, the eyes then receiving a locking-device to prevent the bicycle being used. The stand is secured to the chain stays by a screw stud 4 on the member 1, a clamping- plate 6, and a nut 5. In use, the forked member 2 is inclined forwardly, the controlling- spring 8 being stretched to its maximum as the member 2 passes the position of alignment with the member 1. In the operative position, a projection 14 on the member 2 engages a projection 13 on the member 1, while in the raised position, the member 2 abuts against projections 11. At the upper end of the channel 7 is an aperture 19 for the passage of the brake transmission rod or cable. The projecting part of the stud 4 may be apertured to receive a locking-device to prevent removal of the nut 5.
