Abstract
477,485. Scaffold clamps. BURTON, J. Nov. 12, 1936, No. 30863. [Class 20 (ii)] A scaffold clamp for tubular members and of the kind comprising pivoted clamping jaws 12,13 surrounding the outer ends of two tubes, which abut against an annular projection 19 on a jointing pin 17 fitting into the ends of the tubes, has the jointing pin secured permanently to the clamp. As shown in Fig. 3 the jointing pin 17 is provided with a perforated extension 20 through which the hinge pin 16 of the clamping members passes, and in order to compensate for inequalities in the ends of the tubular members, spaces 21, 23, Fig. 5, are provided between the hinge pin 16 and the hinge lugs 15 of the clamping jaw 12 and the jointing pin extension 20 respectively. The jointing pin may be fluted to reduce its weight. The clamping bolt for the hinged clamping members may be of the simple type described in Specification 451,949, or may be provided with a separate locking member as described in Specification 477,465.
