Abstract
473,948. Water - gas generation. VERGASUNGS - INDUSTRIE AKT. - GES. Feb. 22, 1937, No. 5317. Convention date, Nov. 2, 1936. [Class 55 (i)] In the production of water-gas free from tar and hydrocarbons from bituminous fuel in a. generator 2 provided with a superimposed distilling chamber 2<1> and connected to a superheater 3, the blast being followed by up- and down-running, the gas in the distilling chamber is circulated in countercurrent to the fuel between the superheater, generator and distilling chamber during the up-run and between the superheater and distilling chamber only during the down-run. For the up-run, steam supplied through a valve 11 and blower 4 is superheated in the lower part of the superheater before passing to the generator, the circulatory path taken by the gas in the distilling chamber being induced by the suction effect of the blower. A part of the mixed water-gas and distillation gas is continuously discharged from the upper part of the generator through the valve 13. For the down-run, steam is superheated in the upper part of the superheater before passing to the generator, a part of the mixed circulating gases being branched off and passed through the generator for withdrawal through the valve 17. Tar may be removed from the distillation gas before entering the superheater by byepassing the gas through a centrifugal blower 18, the tar collecting in a vessel 18<1>. Part of the blast gases may be byepassed for this purpose.
