Abstract

469,366. Aerials. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES, Ltd. (Materiel Telephonique Soc. Anon.) Dec. 4, 1936, No. 33313. [Class 40 (v)] An aerial, particularly suitable for television, and giving a circular radiation-field in the horizontal plane, consists of one or more cones 1, 2, circular or polygonal in section, and arranged either apex to apex, as shown in Fig. 1, or base to base as in Fig. 2. The transmission lines 4, 5 feeding the system are connected to the two apices 3, 31, balancing wires 411, 511 being provided in the latter case. The surface of each cone may be a continuous sheet of metal, or trellis, or may consist of a number of wires, each several wavelengths long.
