Abstract
465,262. Centrifugal pumps. SIEMEN, O., and HINSCH, J. Jan. 30, 1937, No. 2800. Convention date, Feb. 19, 1936. [Class 110 (i)] A centrifugal pump for liquids with partial admission, or a vane-wheel pump with pressureraising passages, has an inlet e extending over a sector of the cell wheel b, and a separate air outlet opening h1 through which air is sucked away by a pump i and delivered through a pipe k to the main delivery c. After removal of the air from the main pump, water may pass through h1 and assist in driving the pump i, which may be of any suitable construction. A non-return flapvalve may be provided in the delivery c below the outlet k1. A second construction, Figs. 3 and 4, is provided with pressure-raising passages m, l, and the air-removing pump i is of the water-ring type. The inlet opening e, and air-removing port h1 are arranged axially, and the space k is in communication with the delivery c through an opening k1 for air, and an opening k2 for water or dirt carried along by suction. The vane-wheel may be provided with a shrouding.
