Abstract
178,733. Drysdale & Co., Ltd., and Drysdale, J. W. W. May 6, 1921. Pumping-machines; casings.-A centrifugal pump having the impeller and driving motor on the same vertical shaft is supported on a casting which provides part of the impeller casing b, part of the discharge volute g, the outlet port h, a seat n for the motor j, a passage from the suction port k to the eye of the pump, and an air chamber for trapping air entering the suction port with the liquid and means are provided for withdrawing the trapped air. The air chamber is formed by a partition p and a float valve r controls the air outlet to the air pumps z which are mounted on the main casting and are driven by screw or skew gear from the pump shaft. The means for removal of the air is similar to that described in Specifications 167,006 and 170,494.
