Abstract
463,603. Heating feedwater. TANSLEY, G. E. Aug. 1, 1936, No. 21348. [Class 64 (i)] The elements of boiler economizers and like heat-exchangers are divided into groups adjacent one another in the direction of gas flow, one group being divided into two sections B, B<1>, by a flue 5 with a dampered inlet and outlet so that a non-divided group A can be blown by steam blowers 10 directly through the flue to the outlet 4 and the divided group can be similarly blown by blowers 10a. The inlet or lower group A occupies a narrower portion of the economizer structure. The upper group sections may be blown with the dampers 7, 7a either open or closed on to plates 9, 9a ; if the flue 5 is open, gases passing therethrough may be induced through pipes connected to the blowers to mix with the steam. In an embodiment having a downward gas flow the undivided group is at the top.
