457,713. Supporting telephone instruments; sets. APPARATEBAU GES. NEUMANN & BORM, 56, B³lowstrasse, Berlin. June 5, 1935, No. 16346. Convention date, Aug. 25, 1934. [Class 40 (iv)] For use in noisy surroundings, a microphone free from chattering effects and having a practically straight frequency characteristic devoid of resonance in the audible range is mounted in a telephone set or headpiece so that when the latter is in use the diaphragm of the microphone is in the immediate vicinity of the corner of the mouth and preferably in a plane parallel to the direction of speech. Such microphones include the contact type (other than those using carbon granules), condenser, and electrodynamic types. As shown, the microphone 1 is adjustably mounted in a hand set by means of an eccentric arm 5, Fig. 4, or a crank arm 7, Fig. 6.
