457,218. Heat reflectors for fireplaces. PERCY, C. D., 15, Fairway, Raynes Park, London. Aug. 14, 1935, No. 22882. [Class 126] A heat reflector for an open fireplace comprises a baffle plate 1 formed with upper extensions 2 and having means 7 for securing it to a rear part of the fireplace with the extensions engaging a front part so that, as shown in Fig. 4, the plate is supported in an inclined position and baffles the rear portion only of the chimney mouth, there being a shutter 4 slidably engaging the extensions 2 by which the baffling and reflecting area may be extended forwardly. The plate may be of less width than the chimney mouth to provide side passages for the gases when the shutter 4 is fully extended. In the construction shown, the shutter slides in channels formed by bending the edges of the plate 1 and extensions 2, and the securing means comprise bars 6 adjustably bolted to the lower edge of the plate and bent to form apertured lugs 7 for the reception of fixing screws.
