Abstract
456,288. Television. READER, E., Crofthouse, Collinge Fold, Rawtenstall, Lancashire, and GLASS, L., 7, Pall Mall, Manchester. June 25, 1935, No. 18126. [Classes 40 (iii) and 40 (v)] In a television receiver, the deflecting plates are energized in push-pull and the cathode-ray beam is extinguished during the fly-back period. Line and frame deflecting oscillations are generated by condensers C1, C2, charged over resistances R1, R12; R2, R11 and discharged through valves VI, V2 tripped by synchronizing impulses from a potentiometer R13. Valves V1, V2 are coupled to phase reversing valves V3, V4 and the deflecting plates PX1, PX2 ; PY1, PY2 are energized by leads from the anodes of the valves V2, V4 and V1, V3 respectively. Inductances L1, L2 in the anode circuits of valves V4, V3 provide back E.M.F.'s during return periods which are applied over potentiometer 20 and resistance R7 to the shield S1 of the cathode-ray tube to extinguish the ray. Resistances R3, R4 are stated to straighten the characteristics of valves V4, V3. The two generators are mutually shielded.
