Abstract

455,101. Glass manufacture. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., Magnet House, Kingsway, London.-(Patent - Treuhand Ges. f³r Elektrische Gliihlampen; 11, Ehrenbergstrasse, Berlin) May 28, 1935, No. 15557. [Class 56] [See also Group XL] In a high-pressure discharge lamp, the final closing of the envelope is effected by sealing a body 7, carrying a lead-in wire, into the quartz envelope end. The body 7 has a composition consisting of SiO2, 84À15 per cent; B2O3, 8À92 per cent ; Al2O3, 4À95 per cent ; and MgO, 1À98 percent. This body is given a thin quartz coating to allow ready sealing to the envelopes. Specification 452,854, [Group XI], is referred to.
