GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., Magnet House, Kingsway, London.-(Patent Treuhand- Ges. f³r Elektrische Gl³hlampen; 11, Ehrenbergstrasse, Berlin) July 22, 1935, No. 20775. Addition to 432,614. [Class 56] [See also Group XL] To reduce blackening of the envelope of a high-pressure lamp, at least 0À2 per cent of caesium is added to the mercury filling and the envelope contains 10-20 per cent of boric acid, 25-35 per cent of alumina, 20-40 per cent of alkaline earths and 26-4 per cent of silica, the boric acid and silica together not exceeding 50 per cent. The alkaline earths may be calcium and barium oxides and may be partly replaced by magnesium and zinc oxides. A composition of SiO2, B2O3, Al2O3, CaO and BaO in the percentages of 35, 10, 30, 15 and 10 respectively is specified. The glass may form the inner envelope of the lamp or a flashing on the inside of a less resistant glass. Specification 426,129 is referred to.
