Abstract
452,509. Electrically propelled vehicles. TENNANT, W. J., 111, Hatton Garden, London.-(Tatra Works Ltd. Motor Car & Railway Carriage & Wagon Builders ; 200, Kartouzska, Smichov, Prague) Jan. 24, 1935, No. 2423. [Class 79 (iii)] The driving wheels of an electrically propelled vehicle are each mounted on an arm 3 rockable in a vertical longitudinal plane about an axis X, the driving motor 9 being attached to the arm on the other side of the axis X and at such a distance therefrom as substantially to balance the weight on the wheel side. The arm 3 comprises a tube attached to a transverse sleeve 2 rotatably mounted on a pin or support 1, one end of the arm carrying a casing 4 with a removable cover 5 and enclosing bevel transmission gearing 6 to the driving wheel 7 mounted thereon, whilst the motor 9 by means of one end cover 8 is attached to the other end of the arm, the other end cover 10 enclosing the commutator and being readily removable. Blade, helical or torsional springing may be employed.
