448,697. Prepayment mechanism for meters. PINCHBECK, Ltd., and ALEXANDER, W., Adams Place, Georges Road, Holloway, London. Dec. 7, 1934, No. 35285. [Class 27] Coin action, multiplecoin with delivery proportionate to value of coin.-In meter prepayment mechanism for optional use with two different coins and giving proportionate delivery, a pair of quantity wheels 2, 3 are engaged and rotated together with the coin of higher denomination, and the wheel 2 only with the coin of lower denomination. The wheel 2 is secured to a shaft 1 having an eccentric 6 forming a bearing for a pinion 5 which is held against rotation with respect to the wheel 3 by means of pins 12 working in circular apertures 13 in the wheel 3. The pinion 5 meshes with internal teeth on a wheel 9 concentrically formed on a sleeve 4 connected with the quantity mechanism. When the wheel 2 only is actuated, the pinion 5 is displaced, without rotating, around the internal teeth of the wheel 9, and, being provided with fewer teeth than the wheel 9, draws the latter round with it by a fraction of the amount of the rotation of the quantity wheel 2. When both quantity wheels are actuated, a solid drive is imparted to the sleeve 4. The mechanism is applicable to the apparatus described in Specification 448,696.
