[Class 140] [See also Groups X, XIV, and XV] A composite sheet material comprises a sheet of glass not more than 4 mms. thick, to the back of which is stuck by an adhesive, e.g. damar lacquer varnish, a thin metal sheet, e.g. tin foil, which is coated on its exposed side first with a waterproof varnish, e.g. a copal-linseed oil varnish, and then an oil proof varnish, e.g. a shellac-methylated spirit varnish. The glass may be coated on the back with paint before the adhesive varnish is applied, or the paint may be mixed with the varnish. Tiles may be formed by attaching the sheets by putty to a backing of wood, metal, or cement composition and coating the edges with bituminous paint. The sheets may be applied to a wall by putty, or cemented to concrete gravestones or crosses, or they may form shelves, table tops, mirrors, advertisement signs, or ornamental letterings.
